10 Disney Characters I Would Want As Professors

By Madison White on February 2, 2016

This article is brought to you by Kaplan, the leader in test prep for over 90 standardized tests, including the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and MCAT.

You’ve seen princesses as hot dogs, hipsters, and everything in between. But here’s something you’ll actually find relevant to your college life.

Some wise and some kooky, here are 10 Disney characters I would want as professors.

1. Rafiki from “The Lion King”

Perhaps the zaniest but wisest of them all is the lovable baboon Rafiki. A little nutty, Rafiki can make you see things you’ve never noticed before just like all the best professors do. He may not be the most conventional, but he’ll get you there.

Whether it’s your dark past or your questionable future, Rafiki knows just what to say. And his quotes work for almost any situation.

2. Belle from “Beauty and the Beast”

You need only take one look at Belle’s massive library to know she would be the greatest English professor of all time. She is enamored with books time and time again which would make for some exciting lectures to say the least.

French literature is always intriguing (“Les Mis,” anyone?). From teaching the Beast to teaching you, Belle knows her books and you would too.

3. Milo James Thatch from “Atlantis: The Lost Empire”

Perhaps a more forgotten film of Disney’s is “Atlantis: The Lost Empire,” but that doesn’t mean Milo James Thatch couldn’t be a memorable professor.

Already a linguist and a cartographer, Milo can teach you more than just archaic art forms. He discovered a whole new culture! His educated background is impeccable, but his stories about traveling deep into the sea even more so.

4. Pocahontas from “Pocahontas”

Wilderness survival skills might not be the most conventional of classes, but Pocahontas could surely teach you a thing or two about them. Brave, strong, and fluent in all things nature (just ask Mother Willow), Pocahontas can teach you more about the world than a textbook can.

She can feel changes in the air and she’ll show you that understanding your world is more than just intuition.

5. Agent Pleakley from “Lilo and Stitch”

Fascinated by Earth forms (the mosquitoes!), Agent Pleakley would be an outstanding biology professor. From bugs to plants to who knows what, he might even teach you about life forms with vigor you’ve never seen before.

Who knows, maybe he’ll even show you a thing or two about life not from planet Earth. And you can’t pretend you wouldn’t be interested in that.

6. Tadashi from “Big Hero 6″

Tadashi may have less screen time than a few fans wished, but that doesn’t mean his effect on his brother Hiro, his friends, and his own professors was anything short of impressive. His desire to change the world for the better is infectious to say the least (although Baymax would clear that infection right up).

An engineering guru, Tadashi can help you make your wild inventions come to life, and who knows, they might even end up saving someone else someday.

7. Rapunzel from “Tangled”

Rapunzel learned a lot inside her tower and even more outside it. Her tastes refined in select books, paintings, astronomy, and many more can be great for indulging your creative side.

Her inquisitive personality will persuade you to ask questions and dig deeper into your own wealth of knowledge as well as hers. But don’t let her naive appearance fool you, she knows a bit about delinquent activity as well.

8. Edna from “The Incredibles”

If you were in Edna’s class, it’s possible that the only note you would take would be “No Capes!” This doesn’t mean she can’t teach you loads of things about fashion though.

The cutting edge designer of the superhero fashion industry could make you some valuable networking connections as well. And let’s not forget, Edna’s knowledge of her garments is, dare I say, super.

9. Crush from “Finding Nemo”

Those laid-back, impossibly chill professors? We’ve all had them and Crush the sea turtle from “Finding Nemo” is the perfect lazy professor. Willing to talk about anything and everything, his opinion on the world will always seem profound.

He may go on a few tangents about the meaning of life, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get any work done (and it doesn’t even matter how late you turn it in).

10. Merlin from “The Sword in the Stone”

Disney films never have a shortage of magic, but Merlin may be the most fantastical of them all. Each day could take you to a new place, maybe even a new time period. Could you imagine being taken under Professor Merlin’s wing and learning by transportation and transfiguration? Downright magical.

The Disney universe is full of interesting and complex characters. Some are better suited to crafting young minds than others, even if not in the most conventional of ways. With knowledge spread across the board, these professors would surely make the most of your student loans. Perhaps if you’re lucky, they might even make them disappear.
