Cons: Lecture is boring. Hedlund seems to not really know what hes saying. I felt like he wasnt really teaching me that much.
You HAVE to go to office hours. Programs get tougher as you go on.
Cons: He was a terrible teacher. Did not know how to express his information in an effective way
Avoid taking Comp classes with him if at all possible
Cons: schedule
great
Cons: Heavy workload if you aren't inclined to be a good programmer. Grades rather harshly and oddly. Fully functional programs get shitty grades while dysfunctional ones get good grades.
I wouldn't do it. Its not very easy and the exams are pretty rough. Material covered is rarely relevant to assigned programs.
Cons: Awful teacher in general. There's a lack of communications between him and his TA's and can effectively keep people from getting into CS.
Cons: AWFUL programmer, feels like he's trying to teach to kindergarteners yet still seems to fail to get the point across, cannot answer anyone's questions comprehensively or coherently
Avoid his class if you can -- people who haven't had programming before found the TAs to be infinitely more helpful and people who have already had programming just find him completely incompetent!
Cons: If you don't get help outside of class, you won't do well, especially because Hedlund is not a very good communicator and is often confused or even teaches some incorrect material.
